The Air League has this week launched a flying scholarship in association with SkyDemon to provide 12 hours of powered flight to one lucky winner.
Through the Air League’s powered scholarship programme, this award will enable a young person to go solo and enjoy the achievement of solo flight. Ideally the candidate will be encouraged to take their training scholarship on a residential basis, completing the 12 hours of the space of one week at one of three approved training organisations:
- South Warwickshire Flying School
- Booker Aviation
- Tayside Aviation
The first successful SkyDemon sponsored scholar will complete their twelve hours training in Summer 2018.
Over the past nine years, SkyDemon has become one of Europe’s most successful tablet based flight planning and navigation software. SkyDemon‘s success in this sector had led to the sponsoring of many good causes, this being the very latest through the Air League to enable UK based young pilots to get airborne.
In 2017 SkyDemon was presented the Jeffrey Quill Medal for an outstanding contribution to flight safety and air-mindedness by The Air League’s Patron, HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh at their Annual Reception held at St James’ Palace.
The Air League Trust is the UK’s largest provider of flying scholarships and over the past decade, scholarships worth more than £2 million have been allocated to young people across the UK. The Air League looks for individuals that have a flair and passion for aviation, and determination to succeed.
