Users of FlightRadar24.com may have noticed today that there was an unusual visitor in UK airspace. Airbus’ latest A350, the stretched -1000 version is in Cardiff for a short test flight programme which ends this Thursday.
The tracks shown by Flight Radar show the aircraft test flying over Wales, in uncontrolled airspace which is ideal for this type of flight.
The -1000, a stretched model seating 40 more people than the existing A350-900, is on course for certification in the second half of this year after its first flight on Nov. 24 2016, with delivery to launch customer Qatar Airways shortly after. The aircraft wings are built at Airbus Broughton plant in North Wales.
Users of Flight Radar 24 can track the aircraft by typing in it’s registration ‘F-WWXL’ over the next couple of days.
