Have you ever wanted to try Aerobatics? Well now is your big opportunity, with this fantastic offering from the British Aerobatic Association.
There are a few restrictions to bare in mind, however, for the affordable fee of £199, you can get yourself a full two flights of aerobatics tuition. Along with this, you’ll also experience a fun packed weekend away at Leicester Airfield on the weekend of 12th-13th May 2018.
Easily the most important part of the experience, you will undertake two flights with a qualified instructor. The first flight will involve you leaving the airfield to practice the Club sequence, before returning to the competition ‘box’ where you will then fly the sequence. The second flight will take you directly to the ‘box’ to fly the sequence for a second time. British Aerobatic Association judges will be providing critique for both of your flights.
Briefings & Presentations
To start the day you will be given a very detailed briefing on how the event works, it’s structure, how the competition pans out and most importantly the sequence you will be flying with your instructor. There will also be plenty of further presentations throughout the event from various members of the British Aerobatics Association on how you can get yourself involved in the sport and what opportunities are available out there.
At this point you will have the opportunity to watch pilots of all levels and experiences demonstrate a competition sequence along with commentary explaining each stage of the sequence and what the judges are looking for at each point. this gives you a good idea of the increasing complexity of the different levels.
The 8 times British Champion and 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Champion will be in attendance for the event and he will be sharing his experience in the sport and answering any questions you may have about the competition, it’s structure and what it’s like to be a British Aerobatic Champion.
Camping and Food
Should you wish to, camping will be available on the airfield and the airfield cafe will be serving food and refreshments throughout the event, but please note that this is not included in the price.
The first even of this kind was held back in May 2016 and you can read a full report on the days events by visiting the British Aerobatics website. The event was very popular and hugely successful with many of the participants continuing with their aerobatic training and going on to compete just 5 months later!
So finally, if you are under 30 years of age and a PPL holder then please head over to the British Aerobatics website. The link is included below. Please note that the closing day for entries is the 14th February 2018. You do not require any aerobatics experience, all you need is commitment and enthusiasm for the sport.
If you have any further questions, the British Aerobatics Association ask that you direct these to firstname.lastname@example.org.
